Getting Started

Requirements

All you need to start using Osaport is a web browser, an Internet connection, and a web site where you want to be able to chat with your users.  The audio features in the Switchboard require Flash.

Creating Your Account

  1. Sign up for an account. You'll need to provide a domain name where you want to enable live chat.
  2. After you submit the signup form, you'll receive an email with a link to activate the account. Click the link to start using Osaport.

Enabling Chat on Your Web Site

  1. Go to your Control Panel. Your account starts with one channel for the domain you submitted with your registration. Click "Channels" to see it.
  2. Click the option to "Generate Code" to get the JavaScript Code you'll need to put on your web pages.
  3. Copy the code and paste it into your web site's HTML. The "Chat Now" icon should become visible on your web site. (Need help? Contact Castwide Technologies for technical support.)
  4. Return to osaport.com and open your Switchboard. This is the application that will notify you when someone requests a chat by clicking the icon.

Using the Switchboard

  1. In order to monitor your chat requests, all you have to do is keep the Switchboard open. The window will ring when you have a request pending.
  2. Click the pending request in the window to answer it. A chat window will open with the user.

The Chat Window

The chat window works in a similar manner to such popular chat software as AIM, Skype, MSN, or Google Chat. Simply type your message in the text field and press Enter.

Adding Domains*

  1. Go to Domains in your Control Panel to add more domains to your account.
  2. After you add domains, you can create channels for them and generate the JavaScript code to put on other web sites.
  3. As the owner of the account, you will be able to monitor all your channels across all domains from a single Switchboard.

Adding Operators*

  1. Go to Operators in your Control panel to create operator accounts. Select which channels you want this operator to monitor.
  2. Operators can log into their accounts and use the Switchboard to monitor your channels.

Chat Logs

The Control Panel gives you access to logs of all the chat sessions that have taken place in any of your channels, on any domains, with any of your operators.

* Some features, such as adding operators and domains, require a paid subscription.
